Food Line AI

Comparison

Food Line AI vs a legacy food distribution ERP

Many independent distributors run a long-established ERP with online ordering bolted on as an add-on or a separate app. Food Line AI puts the ERP and your customers’ online store on one record, in the browser. Here is how the two approaches usually compare.

Side by side

Legacy systems differ by vendor, so the middle column describes a common setup rather than any one product. Check each point with the vendor you have today.

  • Where it runs. Typical legacy ERP setup: Often Windows software on your own server, or on a hosted remote desktop. Food Line AI: In the browser. Nothing to install or host.
  • Customer online ordering. Typical legacy ERP setup: Often an add-on module or a separate ordering app connected to the ERP. Food Line AI: A branded online store is part of the platform and runs on the same record as purchasing, inventory and invoicing.
  • Food-specific operations. Typical legacy ERP setup: Food-focused ERPs usually cover catch weight, lot control, order guides and customer pricing. Food Line AI: Catch weights, FEFO and FIFO lot control, traceability and recall drills, cold-chain logging, route planning and proof of delivery.
  • Accounting. Typical legacy ERP setup: Usually includes its own general ledger, sometimes with a QuickBooks interface. Food Line AI: Not a general ledger. QuickBooks stays your book of record and receives approved activity as balanced batches.
  • Automation. Typical legacy ERP setup: Usually reports and reorder suggestions that someone has to run and act on. Food Line AI: Routines that prepare work each day, such as the morning briefing, expiry sweep and collection drafts. A person approves anything that moves money or stock.
  • Track record. Typical legacy ERP setup: Established vendors, many with decades in food distribution. Food Line AI: A newer company, built in Atlanta for independent distributors.
  • Pricing. Typical legacy ERP setup: Often licensed per user or per module, with add-ons priced separately. Food Line AI: Not published. Answer four questions on the pricing page and we come back with a quote.
  • Going live. Typical legacy ERP setup: Varies by vendor and scope. Food Line AI: Data migration and cutover take 3 to 4 business days on clean data. Guided implementation runs 35 or 75 days.

Where a legacy ERP is a strong fit

  • Your team knows the system well and you are happy running desktop software.
  • You want the general ledger inside the same product rather than in QuickBooks.
  • A long vendor track record matters more to you than anything else.

Where Food Line AI is a strong fit

  • You want customers ordering online from the same record your warehouse and invoicing use, without a separate ordering product.
  • Your team works from anywhere and you would rather not install or host software.
  • You want routine work prepared for you each morning, with a person approving it before it posts.
  • QuickBooks already works well as your accounting system and you want to keep it.

Moving to Food Line AI

We move your items, customers, vendors, pricing, open orders and history as part of the implementation, not as a separate project. Your current system stays available until cutover, which is gated on checking the migrated data, not on a calendar date.

Frequently asked questions

Does Food Line AI replace our ERP?

Yes. Food Line AI covers purchasing, inventory, warehouse, delivery, sales, customers and online ordering. It does not replace your accounting system: QuickBooks stays the book of record.

Can we keep our customers’ order guides and special pricing?

Yes. Order guides, price levels and customer specials are migrated, and customers see them in their online store from day one.

Do our customers need to download an app to order?

No. They order from your branded online store in a browser. Orders by email, text and call notes still work too: Order Agent turns them into sales orders for approval.

How long does a switch take?

Data migration and cutover take 3 to 4 business days on clean data. Guided implementation runs 35 or 75 days depending on scope. Multi-location operations take longer, and we say so before you sign.
